I hope this isn't as bad as they're making it appear.  We don't need him being nagged by an injury for yet ANOTHER year...

The last few years the Braves have been relying on older, injury prone guys like Chipper, Smoltz and Mike Hampton.  Then they patch together a few 2nd or 3rd tier free agents and crank up the PR machine to make it seem like they have a chance to contend.

In reality the best thing for this franchise would be to blow it up and start all over again.  But it won't happen as long as Bobby Cox is the manager.  So it is a catch-22, you don't want Bobby to leave 'cause he's still very well liked and a good manger.   But this thing isn't going to move forward until he leaves.

I agree with some of your points but last few years seemed to me we are at bottom especially with pitching. We hit with anybody and field the pill well but no pitchers are coming from the farm like they used too.Yep if we cant cut it soon during season then lets start rebuilding our pitching staff.

mack, ever since Leo left the pitching hasn't been the same and there's been more injuries.  Like to see Bobby make a change at pitching coach but he's not the kind of guy to fire anybody.

I agree,we either miss Leo or we need to get new arms for Smolzie,Glavine and Hampton, they are over the hill and not worth the money they are getting paid.I love them todeath but I remember Mickey Mantle going to one knee after missing a ball and Willie Mays flounding under a fly ball and thats painful.Yep Bobby is players manager but we need pitchig and a lot of it.

We got some pitching but Lowe is in his mid 30s and so is Kawakami.  They put another band-aid on the problem and tied up some money on older guys who are prone to injury.  I don't see where this thing is going anywhere.

I agree on the ages of the dudes but Lowe should be okay if he keeps ball down and he is a proven winner.Problem is who is wiht him on the rotation.I say get the rookies feet wet and start now rather than later.Atlanta should give new starters runs to work with and its time we relied on our farm teams.Hope we can find two more pitchers or we are in deep trouble again.

Lot of injuries in the bullpen also the past couple years, thats another reason why I question Roger McDowell.  Leo had the pitchers throw a lot and that seemed to work well and keep the pitchers healthy.

Looking forward to the season, the Braves are now definite underdogs after all those years of being the top team so it should be a lot of fun.

mack, you think Francoeur will bounce back with a good year?

Yeah ,he is too good an athlete to stay down.Last year he chased pitches all over the plate and never did get going.I think pitching will be the key and youare right,if we keep depending on older guys we are in deep kemchi. We need a good starter and hope our bullpen holds up.I am ready for the season since being an underdog is making all the wins a thing of bueauty.
